We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's! With Jared having a long college break between semesters we were able to do some fun things. After spending a week with family to celebrate Christmas we had a special getaway. We decided that our big gift to each other this year would be a trip to Biltmore Estate. We went for the Candlelight Christmas special. It was so much fun!
We got up Tuesday morning and left for Asheville. We got there after lunch and went to tour the grounds. We visited the gardens, Bass pond, farm, and winery. It is a huge place. The best part was the "back yard". The views were beautiful. We took the picture with the wreath outside the conservatory.
Then Tuesday night we did the Candlelight Christmas tour. The house and yard are fully decorated with Christmas stuff. Including a 40 foot tree in the banquet room. There were so many lights, trees, wreaths, poinsettias, and holly. It was beautiful.
Then we went to our room and opened Christmas gifts. Our big present was our trip but we also got each other little gifts. I gave Jared a camouflage shirt and new slippers. He got me much wanted earmuffs and 2 Christmas dvds.
Then we got up Wednesday morning and went back to the house for the audio tour. I would recommend that. You learn so much with the audio tour that you would miss just walking through. The Biltmore was beautiful and a wonderful Christmas getaway for us. I would highly recommend to you (as my sister-in-law did to me)!
