A Day in K

You have to love kindergarten. Everything is fun and still a learning experience. A cookie cutter. No big deal. Unless you are five! This week was Gingerbread week so we read Gingerbread Man, Gingerbread Boy, Gingerbread Girl, and Gingerbread Baby. So to wrap up our exciting week we made cookies in the shape of a gingerbread man. The kids each got a piece of sugar cookie dough. They used a pin, rolled it out, and used a cookie cutter to make the shape. They thought it was the most exciting thing ever. Then came the good part. My assistant baked them for us and then the kids used icing to decorate them. Some cookies were so cute with faces and buttons and other just had blobs of icing. Either way it was fun. And when they realized they got to eat what they made: some were thrilled because they were good and other were disappointed they couldn't keep their artwork. One thing I learned: spending the day making cookies with 18 five year olds will wear you out!
